Musk vs Zuckerberg, Team McGregor, and Steroids in MMA

16/6 – 22/6, 2023

What’s up MMA fans? It’s time for another recap in the world of UFC. This time we’re looking at what went down last week, and what this could mean for any upcoming future bouts.

With billionaire social media moguls apparently set to face off with one another, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett seemingly not being worth Ilia Topuria’s time, and Team McGregor suffering yet another loss on TUF, there’s plenty to sink our teeth into, so let’s get started.

Dana White Happy to Host Musk vs Zuckerberg

In perhaps one of the most bizarre news headlines of 2023, it was recently revealed that Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg will apparently settle their differences as they square off against each other inside of a cage.

Dana White knows a thing or two about booking a PPV, and when questioned on whether he would be interested in hosting the fight in the UFC, he said he would ‘absolutely, positively do this’, before calling the fight the biggest in the world.

Musk, the owner of Twitter, and Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook and owner of Meta, are two of the richest people on the planet and there’s certainly no love lost between the two. While the smart money would be on Zuckerberg, especially considering his jiu-jitsu background, you should never count the bigger, Musk out.

Another loss for Team McGregor, as they go 0 – 4

It’s not been a great couple of weeks for ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor.

After “knocking out” a mascot at the NBA finals, and then being accused of sexual assault, things got worse for Conor as his team went down 0 – 4 on the latest Ultimate Fighter.

Trevor Wells representing Team McGregor, took on Timur Valiev who was representing Team Chandler. After a fairly conservative, yet sometimes wild, effort from Wells, he unfortunately picked up the loss by decision after the 3rd round.

The loss means that Conor McGregor’s team have yet to pick up a single victory in this year’s TUF.

Chandler denies steroid accusations

Speaking of Michael Chandler, the lightweight recently found himself on the receiving end of steroid accusations from fans online. Needless to say, he wasn’t happy.

Chandler has a great physique and is very powerful for a lightweight too. As a result, some fans online believe he may have used steroids to obtain his physique and his power, and he wasn’t impressed.

In a social media post on Instagram, as Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean played over the video, a shirtless Chandler laid into the ‘mediocre minds’ accusing him of being on the “juice” and basically said the best thing to do is ignore them, all the while performing an iconic Michael Jackson shimmy in the gym.

Paddy Pimblett ‘Not worth anything’ according to Topuria

2022 was arguably the best year for Liverpudlian fighter Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett. Since then however, his stock has cooled somewhat, and he is looking for a big rivalry, a big bout, and ultimately, a big win, to help boost his ranking and his confidence.

After verbally sparring with Paddy for months, the undefeated featherweight fighter Ilia Topuria defeated Josh Emmett in UFC Jacksonville’s main event, by unanimous decision, putting him in the division top 5, meaning a title shot could be in his future.

Ilia recently stated that, despite Paddy being popular with the media and on social media, he is simply ‘not worth anything’ as a fighter.

Topuria basically stated that Paddy may know how to sell himself, but he cast doubts on his ability as a fighter, especially as he isn’t ranked.

Are these his genuine thoughts or are they a way to have a few sly digs at Paddy? Either way, The Baddy won’t take too kindly to the comments, though who knows, maybe they’ll light a fire under him and we’ll see him pick up a valuable win or two this year?
